"A Sanctuary in the City… Living Faith"

Holy Stained Glass

” Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. … For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many. … If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. … strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way” (1 Corinthians 12, excerpts)

Holy God of Love and Light, you join us together like members of Christ’s body; or like panes of glass of all shapes and hues. Open our hearts and minds and lives to your beams of compassion and waves of wisdom in Jesus Christ. Keep us connected with the mortar of your Spirit in these times when we may feel separate and distant. Through our relationships and service radiate the beauty and inspiration of your purpose into even the darkest corners of our homes and our world. Show us, inspire us for, send us to serve your still more excellent Way to live together in Christ. “Love is patient and kind. Love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. Love is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” Thanks be to you, O God. Amen.
