Join the West Michigan Opera Project on Friday, March 2, 7:30pm at Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church in downtown Kalamazoo with a performance of Puccini’s Suor Angelica. This rare one act all-female cast is packed full of beauty and drama. The West Michigan Opera Project features local professional singers accompanied by pianist Dr. Kenneth Bos. Puccini took direct inspiration for this tragic opera from his sister. Puccini’s visits to see her at the convent inspired the melodies and moods of this opera. The lonely Sister Angelica gets a visit from her cruel Aunt, the Princess, only to find out the most heart wrenching news. Come join us and bring a box of tissues! Suor Angelica is sung in Italian with English surtitles. All are welcome and admission is free.
