"A Sanctuary in the City… Living Faith"

The Sea of Galilee

We worship in a boat in the Sea of Galilee. In view are so many places where people would have seen and heard Jesus and experienced God’s love in him—his call to discipleship, teaching, healing, eating meals, sharing ordinary every day life. It is a holy place in its way. And these waters remind me of lakes where we kayak and fish and sail around our beautiful home. Lake Michigan, Eagle Lake, Austin Lake, Gull Lake and so many more — we are so richly blessed with abundant life, so much more limited and precious over here. And Jesus could just as well have come to our ordinary places as he did these. Inasmuch as we open our hearts to God’s love in Christ among our ordinary places and routines, so they become as holy as these waves and shore and hills.
