"A Sanctuary in the City… Living Faith"

palm sunday at presbyterian church

Palm Sunday

Our observance of Holy Week will begin with the “Blessing of the Palms” with other churches at 10:00 a.m on Palm Sunday in Bronson Park. As Jesus paraded into Jerusalem amid the cultural and political powers of his day, so we, the children, congregation, and guests, will gather with other churches to share the blessing of the palms, scripture reading, and a short litany for the day. Following this brief time together, we will proceed into our respective sanctuaries for Worship. We will plan to begin the service in our Sanctuary at about 10:10.

Maundy Thursday

On Maundy Thursday, we remember Jesus’ commandment to love, even though aware of his impending arrest, and eventually, his crucifixion. Our Worship, beginning at 7:00 p.m., will relate the narrative events of the first Maundy Thursday as told in the gospels of John and Mark, in a Tenebrae rhythm of scripture readings,
interpretive reflection, hymns, and dimming lights. This service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion and participation by our choir.
