"A Sanctuary in the City… Living Faith"

Tips from Green Pete

Have you cleaned out your closets this spring and found used dry cleaning bags that are clean, dry, and not too badly torn? There is now a white container in the Gathering Place for collecting them. They will be used for the Plastic Mat Project (PMP) to make sleeping mats for people in impoverished communities in Africa where people and hospice patients sleep on dirt floors in their huts. The mats are 2′ by 6′ and are made in Kalamazoo. About four are sent to Africa each month. If you are interested in making the mats, contact Valerie at (269) 806-9837. One person, or a group of people, can make them. Valerie will give instructions and supplies. They are made in three stages, and you can participate in one or all three.
